StarHub Info- communications company. StarHub was incorporated in 1998 as a provider of services over fixed, cable, mobile and Internet platforms. It was listed on the Singapore Exchange in October 2004. The stock is a component of the Straits Times Index as well as the FTSE ASEAN Index. The group’s major shareholders include ST Telemedia, NTT Communications and MediaCorp.
With over 700,000 households subscribing to at least one of the group’s services by 2005, and a network reaching over 99 per cent of homes, StarHub has become the second- largest telecommunications company in Singapore after Singtel.
StarHub is Singapore’s sole licensed cable television provider. The group launched a digital cable television service in May 2004, and Singapore’s first video- on- demand television service in June 2005.
In 2005, StarHub recorded profits of $221.4 million on a turnover of almost $1.6 billion.
