Jehovah’s Witnesses Fundamentalist Christian sect, originating in the United States in 1872 that denies many traditional Christian doctrines, including the divinity of Christ. The government deregistered the movement and banned their activities in Singapore in 1972 on the grounds that the group’s members refused to perform national service, salute the national flag and swear allegiance to the state. All materials published by the Jehovah’s Witnesses, the International Bible Students Association and the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society are also banned.
