G.R. Lambert & Co. Photographic studio. G.R. Lambert arrived in Singapore from Dresden, Germany, and established a photographic studio at No. 1 High Street in 1867. Subsequent studios were set up in Orchard Road and Gresham House in Battery Road, and were managed by Alexander Koch and later H.T. Jensen. The firm also had offices in Sumatra, Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok. They were the official photographers for key political and social events in the region. The firm was appointed the official photographers of the king and court of Siam (present- day Thailand), and the sultan of Johor.

G.R. Lambert & Co. was the publisher of the most extensive collection of photographic records of Southeast Asia during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The firm was engaged in the postcard trade during the 1890s, offering over 250 views. It had a turnover of some 250,000 cards annually. The firm eventually wound up in 1918.
